On the one hand, I was thrilled to read that GM named a new CEO who is female. The other part of me looks forward to the day when that becomes the norm. When “female” or “girl” or “woman” aren’t the biggest part of the story.
Here are just a few of the headlines:
- Mary Barra Named GM CEO, Automaker’s First Female Chief (Forbes)
- Mary Barra new CEO at GM, most powerful female exec in America (LA Times)
- New G.M. Chief Is Company Woman, Born to It (NY Times)
- GM’s new CEO Mary Barra is no ‘car girl’ (CNN)
A woman can dream can’t she?
I would love to read Mary Barra’s biography.
